POLLUTION (AIR)

LET’S BREATHE SOME FRESH AIR

”Wala ka bang napapansin
Sa iyong mga kapaligiran
Kay dumi na ng hangin”

Some lines from the Filipino song ”Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran” that refers to the environmental pollution.

Beijing, China

ATHENS, GREECE: the Acropolis is barely visible as a dust of cloud blows in from North Africa

A smoke-belching factory in the USA

Our very own METRO MANILA

”Ang mga duming ating ikinalat sa hangin

Sa langit, 'wag na nating paabutin

Upang kung tayo'y pumanaw man

Sariwang hangin, sa langit natin matitikman.”

"Ang mga batang ngayon lang isinilang

May hangin pa kayang matitikman??"

VIOLENCE
Are there still rooms left for peace, hope, happiness, security, and unity?

CIVIL WAR AND TERRORISM

We people are bound with insecurity, self-centeredness, discontentment, wickedness, and immorality. We are fond of widening our territories and we struggle for power, authority, money, fame and glory.
When will this going to end? If we will not change WARS will occur over and over again. Remember that the innocent civilians are the most affected of all.

CHILD SOLDIERS
In spite of their weak and young minds and bodies they are forced to become soldiers to defend their territories or their races.

Children are the most victimized of all victims, of war. As our world continues to engage in genocide after genocide, and war after war, children are continuously brutalized and killed in the name of greed. While war has been with us from the beginning of time, the victimization of children continues to rise. Our inability to learn from history is costing millions and millions of children their innocence, and their lives. As long as we ignore the atrocities that millions of children face every day, we as a society are all to blame for washing the blood from the hands of those who commit such crimes.

“Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out…and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel. …And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for “the universal brotherhood of man” — with his mouth.” - MARK TWAIN

GENOCIDE WAR AND MASS KILLING

POSO, CENTRAL SULAWESI, INDONESIA: victims of the 3-year POSO Massacre or POSO Genocide war between Protestants and Muslims.

who cares about this issues??
I don’t CARE!!.... I have my computer, my cellphone, my cybershot camera, my i-Pod and mp3, my TV… I wear chucks, expensive outfits and accessories. I can buy whatever I want… I can eat whatever I want… I can go to malls to shop and hang out with my friends at the bar or elsewhere. I don’t have time to think about these shits. I’m a busy person, I’m an ASSHOLE!

CHILD LABOR and ABUSE

“Work is not a child’s game!”

We also complain about the kind of our works. We sometimes choose only the things we want to do and ignore the things we should suppose to do. But these children are forced to work whether they like it or not rather than going to school or playing along with their friends like what children usually do.

LOST WAYS

Government’s ineffectiveness in combating poverty and providing education to these poor little children. Where are our hard-earned taxes?

Children playing toss coin while inhaling rugby.

Child Prostitutes

Where are the parents of these children? Why can’t they teach and lead their children to the right way of living? Why do they let their children be influenced by their friends? Why can’t they throw away their irresponsibility and indifference and practice proper parenting?

REALITY TO PONDER (POVERTY)

MAKE SOME NOISE FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T BE HEARD!

We used to complain about the food we eat every day, the clothes we wear and the house we reside in.

POVERTY

He who labors diligently need never despair; for all things are accomplished by diligence and labor.

I felt very fortunate to live in this part of the world.
I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and
how full I may be. I promise not to waste water. I pray that this little
boy be alleviated from his suffering.

I pray that we will be more sensitive towards the suffering in the world
around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature and interests.
I hope this picture will always serve as a reminder to us about how
fortunate we are and that we must never ever take things for granted.

MAY ALL BEINGS BE FREE FROM SUFFERING!!!!

This photo won the "Pulitzer Prize". This was taken in 1994 during the Sudan famine. The picture depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards an United Nations food camp, located a kilometer away.

The vulture is waiting for the child to die so that it can eat it. This picture shocked the world. No one knows what happened to the child, including the photographer Kevin Carter who left the place as soon as the photograph was taken.

Three months later he comitted suicide due to depression.
